The Qld Series continues with one of the most popular and demanding events of the series. The Enduro format challenges long course competitors to take on the tough course at Murrenbong Scout Camp and after a heart pumping Swim, Mountain Bike and Trail Run, it's back in the water to do ti all again!. The event is on the north side of Brisbane, not far from Petrie and takes approximately 30-45 minutes travel time from the Brisbane CBD.

HOW TO GET THERE

From the North

  • Turn off the Bruce Hwy onto Anzac Avenue
  • Follow Anzac Avenue into Petrie.
  • Turn right onto Dayboro Rd.
  • Carry on past North Pine Country Park.
  • After Circuit Rd on the Right, take the next right onto Scout Rd.
  • After approximately 2.5km GO PAST Gate 1 at Murrenbong Scout Camp.
  • After approximately 800m turn left into GATE 2 at Murrenbong Scout Camp.
  • Follow the dirt track up the hill.
  • At the top of the hill continue straight, along the track to HQ. 
  • Park in the open grassy area where directed by officials.

From the South

  • Heading  North on Gympie Rd, at Anzac Avenue, take the Dayboro Rd turn.
  • Carry on Dayboro Rd past North Pine Country Park.
  • After Circuit Rd on the Right, take the next right onto Scout Rd.

IMPORTANT: The road within the scout camp is a single dirt track and there are some ruts and muddy patches.  The speed limit is 20km per hour.  Please take care when driving and be aware of possible oncoming traffic.

COURSE & MAP

LONG COURSE
350m Swim - 10km XC MTB - 4km Trail Run - 350m Swim - 10km XC MTB - 4km Trail Run


The Long Course at this event is an Enduro Format. Long Course Competitors complete 350m Swim, 10km Mountain Bike & 4km Run and then do it all again before heading for the Finish Line

Long Course Swim: (Enduro) 700m - 350m lap + 350m lap
The swim courses for lap 1 and lap 2 are different as they have different start points.

Lap 1: The swim start for Lap 1 of the Enduro starts from the dam just below Race HQ. Swimmers complete a figure of 8 lap before exiting at the Transition Area on the far side of the dam.

Lap 2: The swim for Lap 2 starts from the Transition area and follows an anti-clockwise lap, before exiting back into Transition.

Long Course Mountain Bike: (20km Total): 10km (2 x 5km laps) + 10km (2 x 5km laps)

The Mountain Bike Course includes Fire Trails, Flowing Single Track, some creek crossings, sections of technical single track and some short, sharp inclines. The course is rated easy to medium in technical difficulty which makes is suitable for all skill levels.

SHORT COURSE
350m Swim - 10km Bike - 4km Run

Short Course Swim
The swim will start from a new location at the bottom of the hill at HQ, and therefore the swim course has changed. Click on the links to view the new course

Short Course Mountain Bike
Fire Trails, Single Track & a small sections of technical single track.
Short Course: 10km ( 2 x 5km laps)

Short Course Trail Run
Trails, Tracks & Cross Country.
Short Course: 4km (1 x 4km lap)

TEASER COURSE
150m Swim - 4km Bike - 1km Run

  • 150m Swim in the dam VIEW TEASER SWIM MAP
  • 4km loop on the Mountain Bike which includes mainly fire trails and tracks and some flat single track. The teaser bike course is designed for younger riders and beginners to the sport. There is no technical single track in the Teaser course.
  • 1km run starting at the Transition Area and finishing at Race HQ.

COURSE FAMILIARISATION

The Course Familiarisation Morning to be held on Sunday 20th November, 2011 is a great opportunity to come along to ride and run the course before race day. The morning is a great opportunity to check out the Tre-X Bike & Run Course.

The morning costs just $20 to cover the cost of access fees. All participants are requested to register and pay on line by Thursday prior to the event . Please click on the below for more info & to register on line.

RACE HQ

Race HQ is based at the Day Use Area at Murrenbong Dam.  Please park where directed by officials in the open grassy area.  Spectators have a great view of the event from Race HQ. You can view the swim leg from the side of the dam, the mountain bike leg passes through Race HQ twice and the run leg finishes here. Spectators are asked not to go in or around the Transition Area.

FACILITIES

There are limited facilities at Race HQ.

 IMPORTANT! THERE IS NO WATER so please bring enough water for before, during and after the event.  A drinks station will be provided on the run leg, and at the finish of the race for competitors.

Facilities at Race HQ Include:

  • Sausage Sizzle
  • Tarry & the Jungle Bean Cofee Van
  • Flush Toilets
  • There is NO water at Race HQ so please bring enough to last you for before, during and after the event.
  • The Scouts will be selling cold drinks with all proceeds going to the Scouts

PARKING

Parking is in an open grassy area.  Please park where directed by officials.

Parking on Arrival

No vehicles will be permitted to enter the parking area after 7:45am.  Please arrive with enough time to park, register and prepare yourself before the start of the race. If you arrive late you can park at the top of the hill and walk the 400m to Race HQ.

Vehicle Departure: Vehicles may not depart until the last Mountain Bike is back in Transition

Due to safety reasons, no vehicles will be permitted to leave the parking area until all competitors have completed the Mountain Bike leg and the Transition Area is open to collect bikes. This is expected to be at approximately midday, however, this is an estimated time only and may be earlier or later. Spectators and competitors are asked to remain in the Race HQ area until this time.

Early Departure Car Park Area

If you need to leave Race HQ before the MTB leg is finished vehicles may park in the 'Early Departure Car Park ' located near the pilons at the top of the hill after driving in through Gate 2. There is approx a 400m walk to Race HQ from here.

07:30: TRANSITION AREA CLOSED - Important Note: The Transition Area will be cleared at 7:30am sharp. You must have placed your equipment and cleared the area by 7:30am. If you arrive at Transition at 7:30am you will not be permitted to enter. Anyone who has not placed their bike & equipment in the Transition Area by this time will not be able to take part in the event. This will be enforced as it is a Triathlon Australia safety and regulatory requirement that the Transition is free from competitors before the start of the event and all participants are required to attend the pre-race brief.
07:35: Race Safety Brief
07:45: Vehicle Entry to Event Closes (No vehicles will be able to access Race HQ after this time.)
08:00: Teaser Course Starts
08:30: Long Course Starts
08:50: Short Course Starts
09:30: BBQ Starts
Midday: Road Open for Vehicle Departure (approximate time only)
12:30: Prize Giving Presentation - This is an estimated time only. Prize Giving will start when all, or the majority of competitors have completed the event.

RACE & SAFETY BRIEFING

A Pre-race safety brief will be held at Race HQ for competitors at 07:35am.  It's important that all competitors attend this brief as it covers important information regarding the course, course changes and your safety on the course.

Other waves will commence at intervals after this time. Check at Race HQ for your wave, and your start time and please ensure you are at the start, ready to go when called. You don't want to miss your start and have to chase down the rest of the pack!

START

The Qld Enduro will start from the bottom of the Hill at Race HQ and finish at the Transition Area. It will be a wet start on the banks of Murrenbong dam.  Line up where indicated when your wave is called.

CAMPING & ACCOMMODATION

Overnight camping and basic accommodation are available at Murrenbong Scout Camp. Please contact the Camp Manager to book.

Accommodation: Pack Shelter
The Pack Shelter is shared accommodation with bunk beds and includes the use of the shower & toilet block as well as kitchen facilities, fridges and gas cookers. Rooms and facilities are to be cleaned by participants prior to departure.

Cost is $13.30 per person per night ($12 + GST). Bookings essential

Camping
Camping is available on site for a fee of $6.60 per person per night.
