The Back 2 Back Triathlon is an adrenalin packed event in the Tre-X Series. It takes place over 2 days with Long, Short, Teaser and Dirt Kids competitors taking on the course on Saturday afternoon and then backing up Sunday morning to do it all again! HOW TO GET THERE

FROM BRISBANE

  • Take the Bruce Highway north to the Sunshine Coast past the Ettamogah Pub / Aussie World (on the left of the highway).
  • Take the Mooloolaba Exit (Sunshine Motorway) and follow this for approximately 10km.
  • Ttake the Noosa Heads Exit, continuing on the Motorway north for approximately 10km.
  • Continue over the Maroochy River, about 1.5km, and take David Low Way Exit to Mudjimba and Sunshine Coast Airport.
  • Turn right at the roundabout.
  • Take the Twin Waters Ocean Drive turn off, approximately 200m on the right.
  • Drive straight through all four roundabouts.
  • Follow Ocean Drive for a further 1km (bushland on either side) and turn right into Novotel Twin Waters Resort main entrance.
  • Follow the signs to reception.

COURSE & MAP

Courses include:

The course will be the same on both days, so competitors can challenge their Saturday time on Sunday. Winners will be determined by a cumulative time from the Saturday & Sunday event. Competitors must compete in both the Saturday and Sunday events to be eligible for prizes and series points.

One Day Racing

Participants can choose to take part on just one day of the Back 2 Back however, the event format covers 2-days of racing and therefore entry fees remain the same.

LONG COURSE INFO

Saturday PM: 500m Swim - 15km MTB - 6km Run
Sunday AM: 500m Swim - 15km MTB - 6km Run

The course is the same on both days, so you can challenge your Saturday time on Sunday. Winners will be determined by a cumulative time from the Saturday & Sunday event.

Competitors must compete in both the Saturday and Sunday long course events to be eligible for prizes and series points.

Swim: 500m
Twin Waters Lake : A wet start on the banks of the lake with a lap taking in the circumference of the lake passing under the bridge and finising at the Grass Transition Arean on the far side of the resort.

Mountain Bike: 15km (3 x 5km laps)
The Mountain Bike Course is a 5km Lap
Long course competitors complete 3 x 5km laps before returning to the Transition Area.

This will be a fast and furious course on flat terrain through natural vegetation. The course includes a lot of single track with open passing sections throughout. There are two distinct sections on the course, the Tre-X Twister which will require skill to gain speed on the tight course, and the Tre-X Turbo where speed is king and big butt burms are the order of the day. The course includes some obstacles including roll overs, ramps and switch backs. Some of the tracks are open sandy trails which will allow plenty of opportunity for passing on this lapped course. This is a great course to come and try if you're making the switch from 'on road' to 'off road triathlon'

Trail Run : 6km (1 x 6km lap)
This course is spectacular, taking in some of the best scenery on the Sunshine Coast. From Transition participants will follow a track around the resort and into the mangrove swamps. Expect to get a bit wet on this one, depending on the tide. Runners then head out onto the beach for a spectacular beach run before returning to the resort.

Long Course Competitors will complete 1 x 6km Lap before finishing at Race HQ based at the resort bar.

Twin Waters Lake : The swim starts from the beach at HQ and returns to the beach.

The Bike Course is a 3km Lap
The DIrt Kids pick up their bike from the beach, follow the path to the transition area, then head out onto a flat single track ride before returning to the beach. A lead and sweep rider will lead/follow Dirt Kids riders.

Trail Run : 500m (500m out and back run)
The run leaves the beach at HQ and follows the track around the lake before returning to the finish line at HQ! A lead runner and sweep will lead/follow the Dirt Kids runners.

FREE POST RACE MASSAGES

A big thank you to Britt and the team from Gold Coast Physio & Sports Health who will be providing FREE Post Race Massages at the Finish Line.

This is a great service for the Back 2 Back event to ensure you're ready to back up for the 2nd event on Sunday and then to stretch those muscles at the end of what will be a gruelling weekend.

Massages will be provided on a 'first in best dressed' basis. And keep an eye out in your race packs for your voucher to claim $20 off your first physio or massage visit.
