THE AUSTRALIAN CROSS-TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Championships are sanctioned by Triathlon Australia and will be the qualifying round for the ITU World Cross Triathlon Championships in the The Hague, Netherlands in July 2013.
Winners will take home the title as Australia’s National Champion and it's set to be an adrenalin packed weekend of ‘not to be missed’ off-road action as we search for Australia’s Cross-Triathlon National Champions.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tre-X Australian Championship event is open to all competitors aged 15yrs and over, However, to be eligible for Australian Championship Status and awards, competitors must be over 18 years of age and be full financial members of Triathlon Australia.
Triathlon Australia Membership
The Australian Cross-Triathlon Championships are sanctioned by Triathlon Australia (Triathlon's governing body in Australia). Participants who are not a member of Triathlon Australia will be required to purchase a Day License which is $15 and covers competitors insurance.
To be eligible for Australian Championship Status and to avoid paying the addition day license fee participants can choose to become a member of Triathlon Australia which also offers the following benefits:

- Eligibiity to compete for State and National Championships in sprint, olympic and long course distance triathlons as well as duathlon and aquathon championships.
- Eligibility to represent Australia at ITU Age Group and Elite World Championship events.

The Australian Championships is the feature event for the NSW Dirt Fest.
Dirt Fest runs across two days and challenges competitors with a weekend of Hardcore Off Road Action. Swim: 1000m (1 x 1000m lap)
Novotel Lake Crackenback Resort is located around beautiful Lake Crackenback. Starting from the beach, swimmers will complete a 1000m out and back course on the lake.
Mountain Bike: 24km (1 x 24km lap including 2 laps of the 6km Muzzelwood Trail)
The Mountain Bike Course is a 24km lap including 2 laps of the 6km Muzzelwood Trail.
Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa’s mountain bike tracks encompass 2 alpine lakes, Thredbo River, Kosciuszko National Park and spectacular views of the Thredbo Valley and Ram’s Head Range. The resort’s mountain bike facilities rate with the very best in the nation, highlighted with sculpted flowing single track and the Caroline Buchannan Mountain Bike Park.
Australian Cross Triathlon Champs is a 24km lap which includes 2 laps of the 6km Muzzelwood Trail) The course comprises of approxt 80% grippy, flowing single track. It also includes rocky paths, bridges, rock gardens and creek crosings which will require some technical skills to tackle effectively.
A large proportion of Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa’s mountain bike trails are undulating fast sections of flowing single track providing very little rest bite for the legs which will be pumping all the way. The trails will advantage both technically skilled riders who will be able to carry speed through the tight terrain but strong riders will be able to make up time grinding out the open sections with small pitches and hills. We anticipate some very fast times but we also expect all contestants to experience the most enjoyable and spectacular riding found anywhere in Australia.

Trail Run : 8km (2 x 4km laps)
The course is a 4km lap.
Australian Champs Competitors will complete 2 x 4km Laps before finishing at Race HQ.
This will be one of the most spectacular and challenging trail run courses of the Series (for those of you who like to admire the scenery as well). But don't be lulled into a false sense of security, this is no walk in the park. This course is a true trail run where runners will go off road, traverse the banks of the Little Thredbo River and the Snowy Mountains before heading for the finish line.
The trail run includes a few surprises and challenges including creek crossings, a tunnel run rocky climbs and some real off road terrain.
This is an OFF ROAD triathlon, expect to get wet, muddy & dirty.

JUNIOR COURSE INFO
Swim: 200m (1 x 200m lap)
Novotel Lake Crackenback Resort is located around beautiful Lake Crackenback. Starting from the beach, swimmers will complete a 200m out and back course on the lake.
Mountain Bike: 6km (1 x 6km lap)
The Mountain Bike Course is part of the 12km Lap.
Junior Course competitors turn off mid way around the lap before returning to the Transition Area.
The course is suitable for beginners and younger participants it includes about 80% of grippy, flowing single track wiht a few rocky trails, bridges and rollovers.
The good news is that there are no big nasty climbs in this event, but the non-stop undulating course will ensure your legs will be challenged all the way.
Trail Run : 1km (1 x 1km laps)
The course includes a 4km lap.
Junior Course Competitors will turn off at the Teaser split and complete a 1km run before finishing at Race HQ.
The run course will traverse Lake Crackenback before finishing at Race HQ.
This is an OFF ROAD triathlon, expect to get wet, muddy & dirty.

Starting from the beach at Lake Crackenback our Dirt Kids will swim a 50m out and back course
Bike: 3km (1 x 3km lap)
The Bike Course is a 3km Lap
The DIrt Kids pick up their bike from the beach, and follow the path around Lake Crackenback
Trail Run : 500m (500m out and back run)
The run leaves the beach at HQ and follows the track around the lake before returning to the finish line at HQ!
RACE HQ
This is one of the most spectacular Race HQ's of the series. With the Snowy Mountains and Lake Crackenback as the backdrop
Race HQ will be based on the Village Green in the heart of Novotel Lake Crackenback Resort. For those staying at the resort they will be right in the heart of all the action including Race HQ, the swim course, the mountain bike course and trail run.

START
The start of the swim leg at will be a beach start with a run into the water from the banks of Lake Crackenback. Line up where indicated when your wave is called and follow the instructions from the Start Marshal.
